4 statements about bread that you should not believe

Bread makes you fat, and, in addition, it makes your stomach swell and causes gas. But doctors note: not every known statement about bread can be trusted.

Gluten-free bread is healthier. Another unjustified statement. According to experts, if there is no gluten in bread, this does not mean that it is healthy a priori – such a product may contain a lot of sugar and other substances that are not at all beneficial for health. Bread manufacturers can compensate for the lack of gluten with cornstarch or some other component that is undesirable to use.

Bread promotes gas formation. Scientists claim that increased gas formation occurs in response not to the product itself, but to some food components. When producing bread, enzymes and flour improvers are often added to the raw materials intended for baking. They can really cause bloating and gas formation.

Black bread is healthier than white. Shouldn't we believe this too? Judging by the arguments of experts, just because bread is black doesn't mean it's super healthy. They state that black bread can contain more sugar than white. To make it darker, manufacturers don't hesitate to add caramel or molasses to the dough.
