An American nutritionist told how much almonds should be eaten to protect the heart

A study found that adults who ate about 1.5 ounces of almonds per week (45-50 grams) experienced reduction in body weight and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or bad cholesterol compared to the control group.
What makes almonds so good for the heart?
According to US-based nutritionist Lori Nedescu, almonds owe their heart-healthy properties to their impressive nutrient content, particularly their supply of monounsaturated fats.
Monounsaturated fats lower LDL cholesterol and help grow and maintain your body's cells. In addition to monounsaturated fats, almonds contain protein, vitamin E and minerals (magnesium, potassium, copper and zinc) that support healing and immunity.
Almonds are also incredibly rich in plant compounds called flavonoids: catechin, epicatechin, quercetin , kaempferol and isorhamnetin. They act as powerful antioxidants.
Eating just 50 grams of almonds a week reduces the risk of atherosclerosis.
