Cold or warm: what kind of water should you drink in the morning?

The way you start your morning will set your mood for the whole day. In addition to a balanced breakfast, experts unanimously recommend drinking a glass of liquid 30-40 minutes before a meal: this helps to “start” the body and set the mood for a productive day. There are many options for healthy morning drinks, but the simplest and most effective option remains plain water, and experts urge you to pay special attention to its temperature.

Even on a hot summer morning, you should not drink too cold water, as this can cause discomfort in the intestines, interfere with further digestion of breakfast, and generally will not provide the proper effect of “turning on” the body after sleep. Too hot liquid is also not the best choice – if you suddenly want to drink boiled water, be sure to cool it before drinking.

In order for the morning glass of water to bring only benefits to the body, the liquid should be room temperature or slightly warm – no more than 40-45°. It is warm water that can “wake up” the body, start metabolic processes that slow down during sleep, and remove toxins from the body. A glass of warm water on an empty stomach stimulates digestion, provides detoxification and invigorates.

To make your morning drink even more useful, you can add vinegar or lemon to your water. Lemon pulp (and experts recommend making lemon water with the pulp) contains a large amount of phytonutrients and fiber. Lemons are rich in pectin, which is necessary for maintaining the correct balance of intestinal microflora and the growth of “good” intestinal bacteria. Water with lemon pulp helps detoxify the body, especially if you drink it on an empty stomach, and has powerful antimicrobial and antiviral properties.

Water with a spoonful of apple cider vinegar will also be an excellent solution, since vinegar is a strong antibacterial agent, it prevents the growth of pathogenic microbes in the body, prevents the accumulation of lipopolysaccharides. These toxins, being in the intestines, provoke inflammatory processes and can cause serious diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.

Vinegar breaks down proteins into their components – amino acids. When ingested, amino acids help control stress hormones. The breakdown of protein produces tryptophan, which releases the main source of our energy and joy – serotonin. This “happiness hormone” helps to relax and improves mood.
