Doctors have named the types of pain caused by vitamin D deficiency

Doctors from the UK have spoken about the types of pain that can signal a lack of vitamin D.

Vitamin D plays a major role in overall health, as it helps keep muscles, bones and teeth healthy. The active substance is necessary for regulating the amount of calcium and phosphate in the body. Its deficiency can lead to serious complications, including osteomalacia, rickets or some deformities. According to expert Franziska Spritzler, more than 70% of all people who suffer from muscle pain are deficient in the “sunshine” vitamin.

“The discomfort is explained by the fact that the deficiency can lead to the sensitivity of the receptors in the muscles. Most people do not realize that they are deficient, as the symptoms are usually difficult to notice. You may not recognize them, even if they have a significant negative impact on the quality of life,” the expert noted.

There is also a connection between chronic pain in any area of the body and low levels of vitamin D in the blood, which is explained by the interaction between the vitamin and pain-sensitive nerve cells. Other types of muscle pain include fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, muscle cramps, influenza, Lyme disease. The best sources of the active substance are: oily fish, eggs, mushrooms.
