Eating this meat increases the risk of cancer by a quarter

How harmful is each slice of bacon?

Scientists conducted a study and found out how much meat can provoke the development of cancer. It turned out that each extra slice of bacon increases this figure by 25%.

Scientists found out how much red meat and processed foods with its use can cause the development of colon cancer. To do this, researchers at Oxford University analyzed data obtained during the observation of 500 thousand people who consumed meat in different quantities.

The volunteers were divided into two groups. One of them did not limit themselves in food, while the other followed the recommendations of the National Health Service of Great Britain, eating no more than 70 grams of meat daily. As a result, the researchers found that just one extra piece of bacon can lead to the development of cancer. During the observations, they managed to obtain important statistical figures. In addition, 2,600 participants in the observations died altogether.

The scientists were able to find out that increasing the portion of meat by 29 grams, which corresponds to one piece of bacon, affects the risks of developing cancer. Each slice added to the diet can seriously affect health.
