According to a scientific study, following these habits can increase life expectancy by about 14 years.
The study included 20,244 men and women aged 45 to 79 without known cardiovascular disease or cancer. Scientists analyzed the supposed relationship between lifestyle and mortality. Observation of the participants lasted for 11 years. Experts have found that following four habits helps prolong life.
Physical activity. Adults should practice aerobic physical activity of moderate intensity in the amount of 150 minutes per week or 75 minutes per week – high-intensity activity.
Control your alcohol intake. While this reduction in drinking won't make you live to be 90, it does reduce the risk of death from conditions that develop in connection with alcohol abuse. In particular, such as cirrhosis, liver cancer.
Consumption of fruits and vegetables. You should consume at least five portions a day. The Harvard School of Public Health states that: daily consumption of two servings of fruit and three servings of vegetables is the right combination to support the processes that ensure good health and the tendency to live a long life.
Rejection of smoking. The life expectancy of smokers is at least 10 years less than that of non-smokers. Scientists have also determined that quitting smoking before the age of 40 reduces the risk of dying from smoking-related diseases by approximately 90 percent.
