French researchers have discovered the presence of carcinogens in household chemicals

A wide range of household chemicals can pose a threat to human health. They contain volatile carcinogens, a study conducted in France has shown.

The results of a study conducted by scientists at the request of the French Consumer Protection Association – 60 Millions de consommateurs have become known. The authors concluded that industrial household cleaning products contain a large number of volatile organic compounds, some of which are carcinogenic. The data obtained by the researchers were published on the organization's website.

Scientists studied the composition of 60 samples of household cleaning chemicals from among the most popular.

As a result, experts determined that “industrial cleaning products contain a large number of volatile organic compounds, some of which are carcinogenic.”

In addition, it was found that the composition of the majority of the studied samples (67%) contained substances from the group of isothiazolinones, designed to destroy bacteria. These substances, according to scientists, can act on people as strong allergens.

Scientists recommend using household chemicals less often. The authors of the project pointed out that if the instructions for use are followed exactly and the premises are ventilated, the use of such detergents is not dangerous.
