Gardeners make one mistake when watering beets in June

Gardeners who water beets in an amount that is not needed by the root crop may not expect an enviable harvest. If the plant does not have enough moisture, the fruits grow hard and tasteless.
Details
The rate of watering beets depends on the soil. Dry sandy soil requires frequent moistening, and peaty and clayey soils retain water longer. The average watering rate is 7-15 liters per 1 square meter. m.
If the weather is dry and hot, then the norm is increased to 20 liters per 1 square meter. m. But it is necessary to ensure that the water does not stagnate, because this is harmful to the roots.
Beets are watered when the top layer of the soil dries out. Water is poured between the rows, avoiding the area around the roots.
In June, after the start of active growth, beets are watered 2-3 times for 7 days in small portions, depending on weather conditions. From August, watering is reduced, and 1-2 weeks before harvesting, it is completely stopped, so that the root crops are tasty and can be stored for a long time.
