Using vitamin C can help with weight loss no worse than physical activity, since it has a similar effect on blood vessels.
Scientists from the United States came to this conclusion. The results of the corresponding study were published on the website of the American Physiological Society.
So, it turned out that vitamin C has the same effect on the heart and blood circulation as regular exercise.
In overweight and obese people, there is an increased activity of a certain hormone – endothelin-1 (ET-1), which has a powerful vasoconstrictor effect. Its activity can be limited by physical activity.
At the same time, if regular trips to the gym do not fit into the schedule, those who want to lose weight can safely replace them with vitamin C. However, doctors warned that you should not completely abandon physical activity, because reducing ET-1 activity is not the only goal in sports.
Sports affect the body as a whole, which cannot be achieved with one pill: vitamin C cannot improve the condition of the body as a whole, strengthen muscles or bones that are capable of doing physical exercises.
“The ideal option is to ensure regular sports activities and at the same time maintain an optimal supply of vitamin C,” the scientists concluded.
