How olive oil helps with weight loss

No one has believed in the myth that completely eliminating fats is the key to losing weight for a long time. Along with proteins and carbohydrates, fats are a necessary nutrient for the normal functioning of the body. However, fats are different, and not all of them can be beneficial. The most useful of all existing fats is, without a doubt, extra virgin olive oil. It is rich in omega-3 and -6 fatty acids, vitamins, A and E and many other nutrients that have a positive effect on the entire body: from skin condition to heart health. The high content of antioxidants provides reliable protection against free radical damage and noticeably slows down the aging process.

How does olive oil help with weight loss?

Despite the fact that olive oil is a pure fat, it not only does not lead to weight gain (in moderation, of course), but also helps to reduce and maintain it. How does this happen? Olive oil contains monounsaturated fatty acids – “healthy” fats. Numerous studies have confirmed that regular consumption of unsaturated (with complete or at least partial exclusion of saturated) fatty acids leads to healthy weight loss and normalization of many processes in the body.

In addition, olive oil is a source of medium-chain triglycerides or MCTs. These are lipid compounds that are easily broken down by the body and have a beneficial effect on metabolism. Due to its easily digestible and absorbable structure, the body uses MCTs as fuel, and does not store them in fat deposits.

Being a sufficiently high-calorie product, olive oil saturates the body for a long time and does not allow you to feel hungry, which significantly reduces the risk of overeating. Add extra virgin olive oil to fish, meat, vegetables and use as a salad dressing.
