How to “perfectly” salt lard

Lardo is liked by many because it is an incredibly healthy and tasty product. However, sometimes, due to improper salting, it turns out to be too tough, which prevents you from fully enjoying the dish. Therefore, it is worth knowing how to properly cook lard.

What ingredients are needed

  • a kilogram of lard;
  • half a liter of water;
  • 5 cloves of garlic;
  • 3-4 large spoons of salt;
  • half a large spoon of allspice;
  • a quarter of a small spoon of regular pepper;
  • bay leaves (2-3 pieces);
  • any spices at your discretion.

How to cook

The lard should be cut into convenient pieces immediately. In the meantime, prepare the brine. Add salt and spices to the water. Cook for a few minutes.

Take a plastic container and put the lard in it. Here we place the garlic cloves, cut in half, and spices.

Pour in the marinade.

You need to close the container and leave it for a few hours at room temperature. When the contents have cooled, you can put it in the refrigerator for 72 hours.

After that, you can enjoy incredibly tasty and soft lard.
