Homemade white sauce for shawarma is a key touch that gives the dish a special taste. It is delicate, aromatic and emphasizes the taste of meat and vegetables. The best part is that this sauce is easy to make at home using common ingredients.
To prepare the white sauce you will need:
- 200 ml of natural yogurt or kefir
- 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
- a pinch of salt and pepper
- 1 teaspoon of mustard (optional)
< li>1 teaspoon of dry greens (dill, parsley)
To make the sauce particularly aromatic, add fresh garlic to it. This will give the dish a nice spicy touch that goes well with the meat.
First, finely grate the garlic or pass it through a press. Add it to yogurt or kefir to give the sauce a rich flavor.
Add mayonnaise for a creamier consistency. If you want a lighter version, you can use only yogurt or kefir.
Season the sauce with lemon juice, salt, pepper and dried herbs. Mix all the ingredients well. If desired, add some mustard for spiciness.
Leave the sauce to infuse in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes to allow the flavors to fully develop.
