How to replace baking powder for baking at home
0
Started baking a cake and suddenly noticed that there was no baking powder? Don't rush to panic! Many ingredients that you have in your kitchen can replace it, providing the same lightness and porous texture to the baking.
The simplest option is soda with acid. If you have soda and lemon juice or vinegar, this is quite enough. Mix 1/2 tsp. soda with 1 tsp. lemon juice, add to the dough and bake immediately so that the reaction does not disappear. Another way is soda and kefir. In the dough, kefir acts as an acid, so just add 1/2 tsp. soda to the recipe.
Also suitable is mixing soda with honey. Honey, due to its natural acidity, activates soda and adds a light aroma to the baking. To do this, you need to take 1/2 tsp. soda and 1 tbsp. honey, mix thoroughly with other ingredients.
If you have ammonium (food ammonia) on hand, you can use it as a baking powder. It is ideal for thin cakes or cookies. The main thing is to follow the proportions and ventilate the kitchen well after baking.
