How to repot peonies every 5 years to keep them “lush”

Lush peonies decorate any area. But over time, their inflorescences can begin to shrink and lose brightness, and the roots can even rot. This is due to the fact that the bushes begin to experience a lack of nutrition. Therefore, they should be transplanted once every five years.
How to transplant peonies
It is best to carry out the procedure in early August, when the peonies will bloom. Shoots should be cut and stumps should be left up to 5 centimeters.
Next, a circle should be outlined, which should deviate from the bush by 20-30 centimeters. The roots reach deep enough.
The lump of earth must be carefully removed with pitchforks. You can't pull the bush by the branches, otherwise you can seriously damage the roots and harm the plant.
After that, you should wash off all the soil from the roots with clean water.
Then you need to divide the bush with a sharp knife. The tool must first be disinfected. All sections should contain a thick root section, several young shoots and up to five healthy buds.
After this procedure, it is advisable to sprinkle the sections with ash and leave them in the shade for 7 hours.
New section for peonies, it should be protected from drafts, and it should also receive enough light, since peonies are heat-loving plants.
The new hole should be about 50 cm. The bottom must be thoroughly loosened and fertilized in a few days with humus, superphosphate (200 grams) and bone meal (500 grams).
When transplanting, it is better to bury the kidney 4 centimeters under the ground.
As soon as everything is ready, the soil should be mulched with peat, and sawdust is also suitable for this task.
