A microwave oven is a convenient device for cooking and heating dishes. However, there are products that experts strongly advise against placing in this electrical appliance.
First of all, experts urge not to heat food in the microwave more than once, as this will lose its qualities. In addition, you should not put pizza or bread there: the products may lose their integrity and become dry. If there is no other solution, you should put half a glass of water in the microwave with the food, writes The Daily Meal. Experts also urge not to cook broccoli in the microwave – the vegetable can change its taste and lose 74-97% of antioxidants.
It is noted that some products are dangerous to place in the microwave: for example, chili peppers. When heated in an electrical appliance, it releases the chemical capsaicin, which is found in pepper sprays. Experts warn that it can cause suffocation or eye burns. A hard-boiled egg that has been heated in the microwave can explode on a plate or in your mouth, and grapes in the oven release plasma and catch fire. Some leafy vegetables can also “spark”: cabbage and spinach, as well as carrots.
It is not recommended to heat food in take-out containers: they are often made of polystyrene foam, which can melt and release toxins into the food. Paper packaging, for example, bags, is also not safe, experts note: they contain material that absorbs radio waves.
