Oncologist: Lung cancer is most often asymptomatic

Andriy Pylov, chief physician of the European Clinic of Oncology and Surgery, named the main signs of lung cancer. The insidiousness of the disease lies in the fact that it often proceeds asymptomatically for a long time, manifesting itself already in the last stage.

The oncologist noted that a person should sound the alarm if he suddenly has a cough and shortness of breath, the expectorated sputum has blood impurities, he loses weight and feels weak and “broken.” Whether there is cancer or not is determined by the substrate, which is visible on an X-ray or using a computer tomography. At the same time, if there is oncology, the blood may not signal about it at all, remaining clean.

“The blood suffers already when the functions of the organs are impaired, and this often happens already at the terminal stage,” says Andriy Pylov.

According to the specialist, lung cancer is the most typical type of oncology for men living in Ukraine and Europe. Smokers and employees of enterprises who have to come into contact with industrial carcinogens are at risk.
