The causes of diseases of this vital organ are not only genetic predisposition or chance. Improper nutrition can also lead to problems. To keep the liver healthy and avoid serious diseases, experts recommend reviewing your eating habits.

Sweets

If desserts are part of your daily diet, over time the condition of this organ may deteriorate. “One of the most serious risk factors for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is frequent consumption of simple carbohydrates,” the publication quotes nutritionist Andrea Grange, MD, as saying. Beware of sweet drinks and foods with a high sugar content, the expert advises.

Fizzy drinks

Fizzy water is harmful not only for the waist, but also for internal organs. It often contains a high percentage of fructose sweetener. Unlike glucose, this substance is first processed by the liver. With an excess of fructose, it is deposited in the form of fat in the cells. Over time, this can lead to inflammation and disease.

Fatty foods

Low-carb, high-fat diets can damage the liver, creating a kind of overload. With such a diet, there is a high risk of developing non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

Vegetable oil

Vegetable oil is considered useful, but with regular use it can become one of the main factors, that worsen the health of the liver. Refined oils with a high content of omega-6 fatty acids and cooking with such oil contribute to chronic inflammation.

Alcohol

Drinking alcohol also leads to serious diseases. Under the influence of alcohol, the liver becomes inflamed, and scars form on it. It begins to work worse, there is a threat of cirrhosis and, ultimately, it can lead to liver failure. Consuming more than one or two alcoholic drinks a day contributes to the accumulation of a toxic byproduct called acetaldehyde in the body. It is very destructive for liver cells.
