Scientists discover new health benefits of coffee

Scientists have managed to establish a new benefit of coffee during their research, which is to increase the motility of intestinal muscles, as well as suppress the growth of bacteria. Such conclusions were made by specialists from the USA, representing the University of Texas.
As part of the experiment, the test rats were given both regular and decaffeinated coffee for three days. At this time, the scientists monitored the microbial composition of the rodents' fecal masses, which showed a reduction in the number of bacteria. In addition, the effect of 1.3- and 3-percent coffee solutions on cultures of intestinal microorganisms in Petri dishes provoked suppression of the growth of harmful microorganisms.
In rats, after drinking coffee, the muscles in the lower parts of the large intestine began to contract better. The drink also triggered a muscle response when exposed to tissues in laboratory conditions, a similar effect was observed in the case of decaffeinated coffee. The scientists' conclusions suggest that coffee can be used to treat postoperative constipation or in the presence of intestinal obstruction, but more accurate results are needed.
