American scientists from the University of Georgia conducted a study involving 111 adults aged 18 to 65.
They asked volunteers to try to maintain their weight for two months. After the experiment, it turned out that people who regularly went through the weighing procedure either lost weight (an average of 0.8 kg) or maintained their weight.
At the same time, those who did not have scales gained an average of 2.2 kg. “People are really sensitive to when their weight changes. In this case, they try to change their habits,” the authors said.
