Researchers monitored 130,000 women and 23,000 men for 30 years. All of them were medical professionals, regularly underwent medical check-ups, and filled out questionnaires about their diet, habits, and lifestyle. Such surveys were conducted every 4 years. Experts also found out what kind of coffee the subjects drank: with or without sugar, with or without caffeine, with cream, milk, etc.
Scientists linked weight gain to age-related changes. Men gained an average of 0.8 kg every 4 years, and women gained 1.2-1.7 kg. After analyzing weight changes among coffee drinkers, the researchers concluded that only coffee without sugar can reduce the number of extra pounds.
One cup of bitter coffee per day reduced weight by an average of 120 g over four years. Moreover, the effect was regardless of whether the drink contained caffeine or not. But coffee with cream did not have such an effect on the figure.
Scientists emphasize: to 120 grams, you need to add the weight that lovers of coffee without sugar did not gain over 4 years, unlike their colleagues in the study. And this happened without diets, heavy physical exertion or taking medications.
It is important to understand that coffee without sugar will not reduce your weight instantly. You need to develop such a habit to see the result. This is not the same as diets or a set of exercises for weight loss. But bitter coffee will help stabilize the numbers on the scales.
