Scientists have named a drink that negatively affects the condition of hair: it can contribute to baldness

Excessive alcohol consumption can deprive your body of vital nutrients and lead to brittle and thinning hair. Alcohol reduces zinc levels in the body, which is “a pretty important mineral when it comes to hair growth and volume.”

There are a number of studies that show that a deficiency in these nutrients can lead to hair loss over time.

It is noted that hair loss is normal, as we can lose 50 to 100 hairs a day, often without even noticing it. Hair loss is usually nothing to worry about, but for some people it can be bothersome.

Zinc and folic acid are known to help maintain hair strength and thickness. Unfortunately, excessive alcohol consumption can deprive your body of these vital nutrients and lead to hair loss.

Excessive alcohol consumption is not only bad for your hair, but it can also negatively affect your overall health.

According to the NHS, men and women are advised not to drink more than 14 units of alcohol per week.

“One unit is equal to 10ml or 8g of pure alcohol, which is roughly the amount of alcohol an average adult can process in an hour,” the study says.

The number of units you have will depend on the volume and strength of the drink.

Staying hydrated and drinking plenty of water can also improve the overall health of your hair.
