Scientists have named a factor that increases the risk of osteoporosis

Estrogen loss after menopause is associated with rapid loss of bone mass. A new study compared bone health outcomes in women with primary ovarian insufficiency (OPI) and early menopause with women who experienced menopause at a standard age.
Previous work predicted a connection between osteoporosis and PNE, that is, the loss of ovarian function under the age of 40. However, this new study is the first to be conducted on a larger scale, with more than 12,000 participants.
It supports the results of smaller studies that have shown an association between APN and early menopause with bone mineral density and osteoporosis.
In particular, women with PN have been shown to have a higher risk of osteoporosis and are more likely to be required to take medication for it.
