Scientists have revealed the health benefits of visiting the forest

Scientists from the Technical University of Munich have found out what health benefits walking in the forest provides. As it turned out, the influence of nature even contributes to the destruction of malignant cells.
Studies have shown that depending on the type of forest (deciduous, mixed or coniferous), it forms a specific forest climate. High air quality leads to relief of the respiratory tract and skin, as well as a systemic effect on the heart and blood vessels. Compared to being in urban environments, such walks improve mood and cognitive function, and strengthen the immune system. Potential physiological effects include a decrease in blood pressure and heart rate, an increase in heart rate variability (an indicator of regeneration/relaxation), a decrease in the concentration of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline, and a switch of the nervous system to regeneration.
Staying in the forest stimulates the body's defenses, which recognize and destroy malignant cells. This effect lasts for several days. Secondary phytochemicals (phytoncides) just have a supporting effect.
“Positive emotions can increase due to visiting the forest, and negative emotions can subside. A treatment program for patients with depression was more successful when it was carried out in nature, rather than in a hospital. People find it easier to think about personal problems, which has a positive effect on their health. There is a desire to increase physical activity. “For the healthy development of children, the experience of nature is important and influences their subsequent lifestyle. The conclusions are as follows – walks in the forest are healing,” the scientists noted.
