Single but happy: 71-year-old woman has never had a serious relationship and is happy about it

The woman admits that despite the complete absence of any romantic relationships throughout her life, she often sees friends, actively walks on the beaches near the Pacific Ocean, and continues to engage in scientific research.

According to her, people are often confused by her chosen lifestyle, as if she should dream of a partner.

There's a stereotype that if you're single, you're either stuck at home alone or forced to do everything on your own because you don't have anyone. And while that may be true for some people, we'd be really wrong to think that's true for all single people, says Bella.

She notes that in her heart she really considers herself lonely, but adds that she is currently happiest and most fulfilled without a relationship. However, she does not deny the presence of social contacts with other people, and she likes these meetings.

“I like to decide what I want to do, when I want to do it, how long I want to stay up, what I want to eat, and whether I want to be with other people, and if so, with whom and for how long,” emphasizes DePaulo .

Bella recalls that in early and middle adulthood, she liked to spend a week or two a week in total solitude. However, over time, this segment only became longer, and grew to a whole week.

The sociologist says that she most often spends her time walking along the beach on the shore of the Pacific Ocean, and on weekends she usually goes grocery shopping and cooks something tasty Ms. DePolo says that in her free time from writing articles, she likes to watch something on TV or a movie, and also read books.

I am a sociologist and a writer, and I often write and read not only at work, because I really like it. I study and write about the joy of single life and recently went on tour with my book, she said, adding that even on holidays she often spends them alone.
