The doctor explained how the body can be affected by heating

Working heating contributes to excessive dryness of the air , which negatively affects the work of the body.

Doctor neurologist Serhiy Dlin said in an interview that “after turning on the central heating in the apartments, the humidity of the air noticeably decreases, this has a negative effect on the condition of the mucous membranes of the nose and throat, and also bronchial tubes”.

People themselves often notice that their mucous membranes suffer during prolonged stay – their lips begin to peel and crack, the nasal cavity becomes drier and more uncomfortable, their eyes itch, redden and hurt.

Mucous membranes lose moisture faster, and the fact that they become dry has a negative effect on immunity. The less moisture remains in the mucous tissues, the greater the risk that they will become gateways for bacterial and viral infections.

Also, the doctor added, negative allergic and asthmatic reactions are exacerbated in drier conditions due to heating of the air.

“Dry air is also dangerous for sick children – when they cough, sputum will come out worse, and the recovery period will be delayed,” said the doctor.

One of the ways to deal with the problem of over-dried air in the apartment there is its regular ventilation.
