Unobvious cause of vision impairment identified

Smoking is a common cause of eye diseases and vision impairment. The unobvious consequences of the bad habit were named by ophthalmologists Jorn Slot Jorgensen and Evelyn Mensa.

Mensa noted that smokers have an increased risk of developing diseases such as cataracts and age-related macular degeneration.

To prevent them and preserve vision, she recommended quitting tobacco.

In addition, eye health suffers from prolonged work at the computer. To reduce the harmful effects, Jorgensen recommended looking away from the monitor every 20 minutes and looking at objects 5-10 meters away for 20 seconds. He also said that visual acuity decreases due to poor lighting and a lack of vitamins A, C and E in the body.
