It turns out that there is a worthy alternative to milk in coffee.
- Cream is considered one of the best milk substitutes for coffee. They are fattier, so the taste of the prepared drink will be milder. When using pasteurized cream, you can enjoy the foam and texture, but the calorie content of such a drink will be higher.
- Whipped cream is one of the surefire options, the coffee turns out to be incredibly tasty, with a sweet and delicate aftertaste. Whipped cream can be used to decorate the drink. But thicker than regular cream, and especially milk, it also has a higher fat content, which is reflected in the calorie content of the drink.
- Ice cream is a good substitute for milk. Creamy ice cream or milk ice cream are suitable for making it. Vanilla ice cream is also suitable, but without glaze and additives that can change the aroma of good coffee and create an oily film on the surface of the drink. - Coconut milk is rich in substances that can give coffee tropical notes – without the need to add various flavorings. It should be considered that the pronounced taste of coconut can interrupt the aroma of coffee. Therefore, it is better to use non-acidic varieties for coffee preparation, since its taste will not be so expressive in other types of coffee (for example, Gualvador, India Pachment). Coconut milk has a low fat content, the foam when whipped is less dense, with large bubbles.
- Almond milk – when added to coffee, the drink has a pleasant nutty flavor, slightly sweet, and a delicate consistency. However, the resulting coffee may be slightly bitter; sugar can be added to reduce the bitterness. However, due to its low fat content, almond milk is difficult to whip, and the resulting foam quickly settles. You can make wonderful iced coffee with almond milk.
- Rice milk is sweeter than cow's milk, and it gives the drink the perfect taste without the need to add sugar. However, rice milk has a watery structure, so you won't be able to get the usual creamy consistency. The lack of protein in the right amount makes it impossible to get high-quality foam.
- Soy milk is the most famous analogue of cow's milk, which is traditionally added to coffee. When using soy milk, the finished drink may have a soy bean flavor. To avoid this, it is better to use Colombian and Brazilian coffee varieties (for example, Alicante, Brasileiro, Brazil Ipanema Dulce, etc.). Soy milk is whipped well and has a pleasant creamy flavor. When preparing the drink, do not heat soy milk above 60 ° C, otherwise it will curdle.
