Which can lead to coronary heart disease

High noise levels at work and night shifts can be associated with an increased risk of coronary heart disease (CHD). This was the conclusion reached by New Zealand scientists, studying the possible connection between exposure to loud noise, long working hours, shift work and sedentary work, including at night, with the occurrence of CHD – the leading cause of death in Western countries.
The study was conducted on working New Zealanders aged 20-64. The type of occupation and the length of the working day were obtained from the census, and the impact of sedentary work, loud noise and night shift work was assessed using special matrices of the impact of work on the human body. The indicators were calculated for men and women, adjusted for age, socioeconomic status, smoking and ethnicity.
Scientists did not find clear relationships between the length of the working day, sedentary work and the risk of CHD. But the danger of CHD was revealed as a result of exposure to high noise levels at work and night shifts.
