Why do bruises and swelling appear under the eyes?

Dark circles that constantly appear and swelling under the eyes and on the face require treatment. This is not a simple cosmetic defect. Changes in the color of the skin of the face may be associated with disturbances in the functioning of the body.
Experts call the area under the lower eyelid the periorbital zone. The skin there is extremely sensitive, permeated with a large number of small vessels. If a malfunction begins in the body, this is primarily reflected in the area around the eyes.
A cosmetologist and dermatovenerologist explained the difference between bruises and bags under the eyes. Bruises are characterized only by a change in the color of the skin near the lower eyelid. This area can become blue, purple, gray and even brown. As a rule, dark circles are a consequence of a deterioration in the quality of the facial skin.
Bags under the eyes are swelling, compaction, which signal problems inside the body, the doctor emphasized.
The doctor explained that the main cause of bruises is thinning of the capillaries. It is against this background that changes in skin color occur. Many factors can affect this process. The most common is lack of sleep.
In addition, the skin color around the eyes may initially be darker, that is, from birth due to the natural thinness of the skin and the close location of blood vessels to the surface. Dark spots also occur due to a lack of fluid in the body, against the background of age-related changes, due to oxygen starvation, which occurs due to the lack of walks in the fresh air, as well as due to bad habits and mechanical action, when a person constantly rubs his eyes.
The doctor advised to adjust the daily routine: adjust sleep, normalize nutrition, increase the number of walks. If the bruises are due to a hereditary predisposition, you should consult a cosmetologist for advice.
The doctor said that there are many procedures that help get rid of the dark color on the lower eyelids. But they are all carried out with a certain frequency – about once every six months.
But getting rid of bags under the eyes is not so easy. Swelling is the body's reaction to internal changes. Among them may be:
- malar fat – accumulates in the eyelid area after 35 years of age with edematous-deformational type of skin aging;
- pathologies of the thyroid gland, kidneys, heart, allergies, iron deficiency anemia;
- eye strain and other ophthalmological problems;
- alcohol abuse;
- heredity;
- incorrect head position during sleep;
- a sedentary lifestyle.
The doctor advised to make an appointment with a doctor and take basic tests to understand the cause of the edema. If there are no problems in the body, then cosmetic procedures are performed.
