Coffee in the morning is often used as a means of finally waking up from sleep, but scientists note that a person should not consume caffeine within an hour of getting out of bed.
If you are also one of those people who tend to drink their first cup of coffee before they have even opened their eyes properly after sleep, pay attention to the warnings of experts. Experts strongly recommend not drinking coffee immediately after waking up – according to them, the body should be able to wake up on its own.
Scientists point out that in the first hour after sleep, the body actively produces the stress hormone cortisol, which plays the role of a natural “switch” that puts the human body into activity mode. According to them, coffee consumed immediately after waking up “breaks” this natural process.
In particular, scientists say that regular consumption of caffeine in the first hour after waking up in the morning prompts the body to reduce the production of the “wake-up hormone” – this is simply not necessary, since a person receives a stimulant from the outside. The problem is that over time, caffeine becomes addictive and acts less effectively as an alarm clock, unless its dose is constantly increased. However, a large amount of caffeine taken at a time can negatively affect the body and overload the nervous system.
“To avoid preventing your body from waking up on its own, postpone drinking coffee for at least an hour after waking up,” experts recommend.
