Ockley Hacker, a resident of Clay County, Kentucky, USA, recently turned 106 years old. The celebration took place at the veterans center, where the man lives.
“We were kind of fascinated by him and still in love with him,” says Jennifer Young, who handles events at the center. Her words are quoted by WKYT.
Oakley Hacker is a veteran of World War II. He served in the US Navy for two years. Later he worked in various fields. The man retired only at the age of 92.
“You just accept things as they are. I have had various doctors say that I am not in danger of dying from heart disease. They said I have it as strong as a 45-year-old,” says Oakley Hacker.
However, according to him, the secret of longevity is not only that. The man believes that what matters most is life.
“Being kind to people and letting people treat you the way you want to be treated. I get along with everyone, or at least try to,” concluded the veteran.
