2 popular types of tea cause a sharp jump in blood pressure in minutes

According According to a study, two popular types of tea can cause a sudden spike in blood pressure shortly after consumption.

High blood pressure is a harmful condition that is closely related to the susceptibility to cardiovascular diseases, including heart attack and stroke. Unfortunately, there are no obvious warning signs of high blood pressure, so it is extremely important to monitor your blood pressure. In this regard, scientists warn: two popular types of tea can cause a sharp jump in blood pressure within a few minutes after taking it.

“While tea is recognized as a health benefit, available evidence suggests that some teas may temporarily raise blood pressure, primarily due to their caffeine content.”

The authors of the study, whose results were published in the journal Hypertension, observed a “dramatic increase in blood pressure” soon after drinking green and black tea – specifically, an increase in systolic and diastolic blood pressure 30 minutes after drinking the drinks. Scientists state that the increase in blood pressure, which is possible after drinking tea, exceeds the increase in blood pressure level observed in people after drinking coffee.

At the same time, the increase in blood pressure after tea stops quite quickly. 60 minutes after drinking the drink, blood pressure indicators return to their former threshold. Scientists also note that in people who regularly drink tea, the body is not inclined to react by increasing blood pressure, its reactions to caffeine are calmer.

It is interesting that the researchers recorded the ability to increase blood pressure not only in black, but also green tea – a drink that is usually attributed hypotensive action. Scientists noted that “caffeine in green tea can increase blood pressure in people with pre-existing hypertension”.

Experts recommend drinking tea with caution to people who rarely consume it and also have chronic heart problems vascular pathologies. First of all, you should not drink strongly brewed teas. Drinking them can be useful only in circumstances of “falling” pressure, in which the well-being worsens and the tone decreases.
