There are many claims about the importance of breakfast for health, but the jury is still out. Now, a new study has backed up those claims, highlighting the importance of a home-cooked breakfast to overall health. This suggests, however, that three foods are best avoided to improve psychosocial behavior.
Claims that breakfast is the most important meal of the day are based on energy levels and weight management. However, mental health can be seriously affected. Now new evidence suggests that eating certain foods in the morning can lead to psychosocial behavioral problems in children.
Scientists studied the effects of skipping breakfast in more than 21,000 university students with an average age of 20.
Similarly, consumption of certain foods/beverages is associated with higher (e.g., processed meat) and lower (e.g., dairy products, cereals) likelihood of psychosocial behavioral problems.
Results showed that coffee, milk, tea, chocolate, cocoa, yogurt, bread, toast, cereal and pastries were associated with a lower risk of behavioral problems.
Eggs, cheese and ham were associated with a higher risk of such problems.< /p>
