3,500 dollars for marrying a woman with a disability: the Kyiv police exposed another scheme for the departure of evaders abroad
Capital police officers exposed a large-scale scheme of transporting men across the state border.
The “fictitious marriage agency” was exposed by employees of the migration police together with the investigators of the Kyiv police and under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv city prosecutor's office. Currently, the law enforcement officers are identifying all the participants involved in the specified illegal device.
“The operatives established that the criminal activity was organized by a 38-year-old resident of Kyiv region. The latter was looking for men of draft age through announcements in Telegram channels, and her 48-year-old accomplice helped with the search for “brides”. In addition, the organizer personally accompanied the newlyweds to the border. For the entire procedure, the defendants asked for $3,500,” the report says.
Illegal activity was exposed immediately after concluding a fictitious marriage with a 43-year-old native of the Ternopil region, who came to the capital for one day to make a deal. For her participation in illegal equipment, the latter received $1,500, which was seized during the investigation.
The organizer and the “bride” were detained by law enforcement officers in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code and informed of the suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 332 (Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine). The sanction of the maximum punishment provides for up to nine years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Currently, the issue of announcing the suspicion of a third participant in the illegal arrangement is being resolved, and other persons involved in illegal activities are also being identified.

What other escape schemes do evaders have
A few weeks ago, border guards detained eight people while trying to cross the Kuchurgan estuary in the Odesa region. For this, they put on protective fishing overalls. The channel of illegal movement of people across the border was organized by two men. They looked for potential “clients”, drove them to one of the border villages and gave instructions on further actions. The organizers demanded $5,300 from each “client” for “services”.
Also, border guards from Romania discovered the body of a 33-year-old Ukrainian. He comes from Kharkiv. A man tried to cross the Tisza River, but died before reaching the neighboring country.
In addition, three men were recently detained who tried to illegally cross the border with Hungary and Romania. Two of them, risking their lives, also decided to swim in the Tisza with children's life jackets.
