4 simple foods to reduce cholesterol recommended by nutritionists

Experts in the field of healthy nutrition recommended to include strawberries, orange juice, oatmeal and walnuts in the diet. According to them, these are some of the most effective products for lowering blood cholesterol.

Nutritionists Lauren Manaker and Nick Fuller shared their advice.

Strawberries

Strawberries can be a great addition to your daily diet when it comes to high cholesterol. “Antioxidants, fiber and other substances in strawberries have been found to help lower blood cholesterol levels. In addition, eating at least 1.5 cups of berries per week reduces the risk of a heart attack by 34%,” Manaker said.

Natural orange juice

Nutritionist recommended abandoning sweetened drinks and replacing them with 100 percent orange juice. “Adults who consume orange juice have lower levels of total and 'bad' cholesterol,” she explained.

Oatmeal

Walnuts

When it comes to snacks, walnuts can be a great option. “A recent study showed that people who ate about half a cup of walnuts every day for two years had an average of 4.3 mg/dL of 'bad' cholesterol drop,” Manaker said.
