4 tricks for making barley porridge: no need to soak or cook for a long time

Experienced housewives shared tricks that help them simplify the process of making barley porridge.

There are several ways to speed up cooking without resorting to unnecessary steps.

Details

Rinse

Almost all cereals need to be washed before cooking. But in the case of barley porridge, this procedure must be carried out in a special way.

It is washed three times. The first time – with warm water, and the second and third – with hot water. The procedure allows you to get rid of excess debris.

In addition, the water will remove microparticles that cause the groats to stick together. The barley will turn out to be crumbly.

Boiling

The washed groats are placed on the stove, poured with water and brought to a boil. After that, they are kept on the fire for another 3-5 minutes.

Then the water is drained and cold water is poured in. Put on the fire again. In the new water, the barley will steam and turn out to be more crumbly.

Dishes

The barley is cooked in a dish with a thick bottom and walls. This is necessary for uniform heating of the water. Only in this case will the groats be cooked perfectly.

Rest

After cooking, the pot with the groats is wrapped in a towel so that it cools down as slowly as possible. The barley is kept in this form for 30-40 minutes. During this time, it will have time to reach the desired condition.
