How to live longer with good health?
The therapist recommends five key actions that will help increase life expectancy, starting with eating plant-based foods.
“Foods like nuts, fruits, vegetables, whole grains and other plant foods contain nutrients and antioxidants that the body needs. Studies have shown that some of these foods can reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease and other diseases, which will improve the quality of your life,” says the doctor.
The therapist also advises to “watch your calories” because obesity can be a risk factor for many diseases, including type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Men should consume 2,500 calories per day to maintain their weight, while women should consume 2,000 calories per day.
Weight loss can be achieved by burning more calories than you consume each day.
Take alcohol, for example, which can be full of calories with no nutritional value.
“ Limiting the amount of alcohol you consume can have numerous benefits for your health and reduce the likelihood of developing a number of health problems. Research has shown that cutting back on alcohol consumption can reduce your risk of premature death by about 18 percent.”
And at the same time, your doctor suggests you “keep active” to prevent the disease.
Research has shown, that 15 minutes of exercise every day can add three years to your life. And the risk of premature death is reduced by about four percent for every 15 minutes of exercise.
