5 Meatless Pasta Sauces

Can pasta without meat be boring? Just not with the right sauce. Sauces make pasta a favorite meal. Check out five options that will diversify your table and add flavor to the dish.

1. Tomato with basil
A classic that always works. Fry the garlic in olive oil, add chopped tomatoes (fresh or canned), season with salt, pepper and dried basil. Cook for 10-15 minutes to thicken the sauce. It is worth serving it hot with a portion of Parmesan.

2. Creamy mushroom
Fry finely chopped mushrooms, add cream (10-20% fat content) and simmer over low heat. To enhance the taste, add a little nutmeg and a pinch of salt.

3. Cheese sauce
Melt the butter in a saucepan, add 1-2 tbsp. l. flour, mix until smooth. Gradually pour in the milk, bring to a boil and add the grated hard cheese. The sauce should be thick and rich.

4. Basil pesto
Beat the basil, olive oil, pine nuts and a little garlic in a blender. Pesto goes great with any pasta and adds Italian charm to the dish.

5. Vegetable stew
Fry the onions, carrots, bell peppers and zucchini. Add tomato paste and spices, simmer until cooked. The sauce is bright, nutritious and very aromatic.
