5 “secrets” for preserving indoor plants if you leave them for a long time

By following the recommendations, you can not worry that after the arrival of the owners, dry sticks will be waiting for you instead of flowering plants.
Determine the type of plant
To begin with, flowers are divided into fastidious and not very fastidious. The former are tried to be given to friends for a while or follow other recommendations. Unpretentious plants will easily survive one and a half to two weeks if they are watered abundantly before departure (succulents, yuccas, cacti).
Preparatory work
Inspect the plants, remove yellowed, damaged or diseased leaves, stems, and flowers. You can also thin them out so that they use less moisture and nutrition.
Lighting
The more sunlight, the more water is used. Therefore, plants are either placed on windows facing north, or a table is placed in the center of the room on which they are placed. This way, the plants will receive the necessary amount of light, but will use less moisture.
No feeding
If you feed the flowers a few weeks before departure, they will increase their green mass, which will require more water. Therefore, it is better to fertilize the plants after arrival.
Watering system
If you have nowhere to place plants that require watering, you need to make some kind of primitive watering system for them. Or make a mini-greenhouse: water abundantly and cover the plants with transparent polyethylene.
