5 types of people who attract mosquitoes more

Scientists note that not all people are equally appetizing to mosquitoes. There are types of people who are attacked by winged bloodsuckers more often than others.

People with high blood sugar. Yes, mosquitoes prefer “sweet” blood as more nutritious. In this regard, their preferred prey are sweet tooths and diabetics.

Athletes. Their bodies actively produce lactic acid, which is something like a very attractive dessert for mosquitoes.

Overweight people. Mosquitoes are attracted to carbon dioxide exhaled by humans, and the largest amount of carbon dioxide is released by people with the largest body dimensions.

People with the first blood group. A study published in the journal “Medical Entomology” in 2004 showed that mosquitoes prefer the first blood group to others. At the same time, scientists have found out that approximately 85% of people have genes that “thanks” to which their body sends signals that allow insects to recognize the blood type of their victims.

People in black. As a result of their study, entomologists from the University of Florida came to the conclusion that mosquitoes use not only smell but also vision when searching for a victim. These insects, as it turned out, distinguish between black, blue and red colors. They attack people wearing clothes of these colors more often, experts believe.

Scientists remind that mosquitoes can spread encephalitis like ticks. Doctors recommend walking away from water and not forgetting to use mosquito repellents.
