6 symptoms of jaw arthritis

Everyone knows that arthritis is a disease of the joints that manifests itself in the legs and arms. Surprisingly, the first symptoms of this pathology appear not only in the limbs, but also in the oral cavity.
Dentist Dr. Safa Al-Naher explained that some microbes, when they enter the mouth, provoke inflammation in the body. In advanced cases, this leads to arthritis of the jaw and the spread of inflammatory processes.
The following symptoms signal the development of maxillofacial arthritis:
- problems with chewing;
- creaking, grinding, clicking or crunching in the jaw;
- pain in the face, ears or neck;
- frequent headaches;
- inflammation in the jaw joints;
- stiffness and soreness of the jaw, especially in the morning.
To solve the problem, you need to contact a dentist-therapist. Early consultation with a specialist will help avoid further complications. To prevent the development of the disease, the doctor advised eating a variety of foods and adding more vegetables to the diet, paying attention to fermented foods, such as kefir or natural yogurt, and adding foods high in prebiotics to the diet – apples, bananas, asparagus, oatmeal.
Al-Naher advised reducing the consumption of sugar and any sweet foods and avoiding frequent consumption of carbonated drinks. It is important to monitor oral hygiene. You should brush your teeth twice a day for at least 2 minutes, and also choose a toothpaste that improves the oral microbiome.
