Diseases that can affect both humans and animals are classified as anthropozoonotic infections. They are subject to strict epidemiological and veterinary control. Each detected case is considered an extraordinary situation. It is noteworthy that diseases can be transmitted by both wild and domestic animals – cats, dogs, cattle. In some cases, the disease requires immediate response, as there is a risk of a pandemic or epidemic. Let us consider in more detail the diseases of animals that are transmitted to humans.

Lyme disease

This is one of the most well-known diseases transmitted to humans. It is caused by the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi through the bites of infected ticks. Cats, dogs, humans, and cattle can be infected with the disease. Rodents and hedgehogs are also most often infected with the bacteria.

Lyme disease is closely related to such troubles as kidney damage, vision in dogs and horses, and arthritis. Of course, the likelihood of causing serious harm to humans is high. Humans do not become infected from infected animals; ticks are the carriers. The disease is extremely difficult to treat, so preventive measures should be followed.

Brucellosis

This disease is caused by the bacteria Brucella. They are found in deer, elk, and wild boars. The infection spreads to domestic pigs, cattle, and dogs. The latter, by the way, have their own types of Brucella that affect the reproductive system. The disease is not very common in humans. Symptoms include fever, fatigue, headache, depression, testicular swelling, and arthritis. Most often, a person is infected from dairy products. Unfortunately, treatment requires a long time, but the probability of recovery is extremely high.
