The apple tree is the most common tree that can be found in almost all gardens. However, it does not always bear fruit, for various reasons. Knowing them, you will be able to eliminate mistakes in time and harvest a rich harvest of fruits for more than one year.

Your apple tree has simply not yet reached reproductive age. The seedling must strengthen, form a powerful root system and strong shoots, and this requires at least 4-5 years. You will have to be patient to wait for the harvest.

Abundance of ovaries

When there are many fruits on an apple tree, over time the tree becomes exhausted and does not form ovaries. Every year at the beginning of summer, the ovaries should be thinned, removing all weak and deformed ones, as well as those that grow too densely.

A little more than 2/3 of all ovaries should be left on the fruiting branch. By the way, the largest fruits are formed from the flower that blooms first.

Nitrogen overfeeding

And then the apple tree, building up a powerful crown, stops blooming. Regularly apply phosphorus-potassium fertilizers under the tree.

Deepening of the root neck

It is located 3 cm above the upper root and should be at ground level. If the root neck is sunk into the ground, the bark will rot here, and the apple tree will dry out. Carefully free the root neck from the soil.

The approaches of the flower eater

The larvae of the pest attack the buds, eating them from the inside. To get rid of this scourge, take preventive measures in advance:

install fishing belts, whiten the trunks, treat with a fungicide or use folk remedies, such as garlic infusion: dilute 150 g of crushed garlic in 10 liters of water, strain.

Spray the plant immediately with the finished solution. Repeat the treatment after a week.

Vertical growth of branches

Smear the sections of thick branches with garden broth. Try to move the rest of the branches to the maximum horizontal position. Tie a load to thin branches, attach thick ones to pegs driven into the ground.

Excess moisture

Close to groundwater, stagnation of water during snow melting, if the area is in a lowland, – all this leads to the fact that over time the roots rot, the tree weakens and dies. There is only one way out: to drain water from the roots next to the plant, dig a drainage groove with a depth of 60 cm.
