A resident of the British city of Newcastle, Irene Gilbert, celebrated her 105th birthday. In her opinion, the key to a long life lies in nutrition. The woman is often asked how to achieve longevity. Irene advises eating lots of fruits and vegetables, writes Chroniclelive.
Relatives of the long-liver note that these products have always been in her diet, and in large quantities. “She was always a big fan of eating fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as the highest quality meat,” said granddaughter Sally Tolson about her grandmother.
According to the 48-year-old woman, this diet is also the secret to her grandmother’s always looking good. Sally notes that in recent years, Irene has become very fond of chocolate – but she eats it in small quantities.
Gilbert gave birth to two sons, she also has three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She currently lives in a nursing home. There, a celebration was held in honor of her birthday, which was also attended by the long-liver’s relatives.
