One of the oldest living Australians, Katarina van der Linden, celebrated her 110th birthday. A woman who survived two world wars and pandemics claims that the key to good health is daily walks. Thanks to them, she remains active.
Van der Linden was born in the Netherlands and moved to Australia with her husband in 1955. Has four children. The woman worked as a grape picker, a nurse's assistant and a typist.
She still goes for a walk twice a day. “I can easily walk alone, without any company,” says the woman. She also goes to the gym twice a week. Van der Linden enjoys playing cards and gardening.
“I try to do as much as I can on my own, it's in my nature. I don't want to impose myself or bother people,” says the woman.
