When the main season is over, and the desire to continue growing plants remains, you can arrange a home garden. A great idea that has a great chance of success. Of course, you won't be able to harvest kilograms from one windowsill, but you can definitely grow them for salad.
How to choose tomatoes
A small spoiler at the very beginning. Not all varieties that are very popular can be sown for indoor cultivation. This is related to the conditions, because with all the desire and technological capabilities, the conditions of the room are not the same as in the open ground.
Balcony tomatoes
Experts do not recommend sowing indeterminate varieties. They grow extremely tall, but they lay down tassels through a large gap in the leaves. As a result, the room will have a tall plant, but with a small yield. It's another matter if you have a tall greenhouse.
For indoor cultivation, experts recommend giving preference to low-growing and determinant varieties. With them, there will be more space and the yield will be pleasing. Of course, it won't be the same as in a greenhouse, but it will definitely be enough for a salad.
Give preference to varieties that won't “suffer” from a small amount of light. Farmers have a lot of varieties. Just make sure that the labeling indicates balcony cultivation.
