Daily consumption of one popular berry helps preserve vision in old age. This is reported by the Daily Record with reference to the study.
Scientists observed 34 study participants, some of whom ate one and a half cups of grapes daily, the others – a placebo. After 16 weeks, volunteers who ate grapes demonstrated an improvement in the optical density of macular pigment.
This is the first study to show that eating grapes has a beneficial effect on human eye health. This is surprising given the increasing aging of the population. Grapes are a simple, affordable product that is beneficial for health even in small quantities,” said researcher Jong-Yoon Kim.
The reason for the positive effect of grapes on vision, scientists said, is that this berry contains many antioxidants that are beneficial for retinal health.
