A certain type of nut can significantly reduce high blood pressure during sleep

Researchers have found that a type of nut, such as pistachios, helps hypertensive patients reduce high blood pressure during sleep.
The conclusions of scientists about the benefits of pistachios as a natural antihypertensive agent were published in the Journal of the American Heart Association. Experts conducted an experiment in which participants (people with high blood pressure) were divided into two separate groups: the first followed a diet containing low-fat snacks, and the second – a moderate-fat diet with the inclusion of pistachios. Both groups followed their diets for four weeks, then the volunteers underwent a series of tests.
The researchers concluded that a diet containing pistachios helps reduce some risk factors for cardiovascular disease.
“The blood pressure-lowering effect of pistachios is greater than that of other types of nuts,” the authors of the project stated.
According to experts, the consumption of pistachios significantly reduced the volunteers’ total peripheral resistance, increased cardiac output, and improved some indicators of heart rate variability. They also noted the ability of this type of nut to “significantly reduce” high blood pressure during sleep.
“Systolic ambulatory blood pressure decreased significantly after following the “pistachio diet,” with the greatest decrease observed during sleep,” the experts said.
Pistachios contain monounsaturated fatty acids and a large amount of polystyrene substances, which have known benefits for hypertension. They also contain the amino acid L-arginine, which is converted into nitric oxide in the body, which helps relax and dilate blood vessels. The result is a decrease in blood pressure.
Researchers claim that the hypotensive effect of pistachios is best manifested when nuts account for 20 percent of the calories consumed per day.
