Weight gain is one of the consequences of regular alcohol consumption, experts warn.
In an interview with a narcologist, the negative effects of alcohol consumption on weight and figure were listed. The doctor stated that using alcohol to relax after work or as a kind of antidepressant can contribute to the appearance of excess body fat.
The doctor noted that alcohol does not contain the nutrients the body needs, but at the same time it is very high in calories.
“Alcoholic beverages are very high in calories: one gram of ethanol contains about 7 kilocalories,” the expert said.
The doctor warned that these empty calories, not supported by useful nutrients, act on the body as hunger activators.
“Alcoholic beverages affect the “inhibitory” mediator of the nervous system and weaken the desire not to overeat – this leads to an increase in body weight,” the doctor warned.
He added that habitual alcohol consumption can provoke the emergence of such a problem as a deficiency of nutrients in the body, which is closely related to the development of anemia, hair loss, endocrine and other disorders.
