A gastroenterologist denied the need to constantly eat hot food

A gastroenterologist and hepatologist said that the need to regularly eat hot food is exaggerated.

In fact, it all depends on the dish or product. Some products cannot be eaten cold because it is difficult for the body to ferment them.

For example, this applies to fats. “For example, fats are better absorbed and transformed in the body in a solid (cold) and softened (hot) form. In cold form, fats need more time to be processed and for fermentation to begin,” the doctor explained.

She explained that the best food temperature is the same as that of the human body. Room temperature is acceptable. Otherwise, you can either burn the esophagus with hot food or provoke a spasm with cold food.

The gastroenterologist noted that in some cases, both cold and hot food may be contraindicated for people. “This especially applies to the upper parts of the gastrointestinal tract, which are the first to encounter different temperatures of food products. These include, for example, esophagitis, irritation of the esophageal mucosa, reflux disease and its subsequent complications, as well as erosive-ulcerative lesions of the stomach,” the doctor emphasized.
